Do You Really Know Yourself?

Often times I get asked the question "Who are you?". Although, some may think that this is a stupid question, but do we really know who we are? When we describe ourselves we tend to only describe and know the surface (our favorite color, what we like to do, etc.), but have you ever thought deeper?

If you sat down and looked in the mirror, and really thought about who you were...would you like it? Would you be able to state something that you like about yourself? Do you even know how to start thinking about who you are? If you can't answer these questions, it is totally okay. It just means that you need to start spending more time with yourself and stop worrying about everyone else and their opinions. Try to live a life that makes you happy! Spend at least 20 minutes with yourself once a day and just love on yourself! Write down at least three things that you like about yourself and three things that you would like to change. Try to work towards changing your list each week, and check them off if you accomplished them. Take yourself out on a date, or listen to some music and dance! Do something that makes YOU feel better and soon better, and positive people will attract towards you!

They just don't understand: Mother Daughter Relationships

They just Don't understand:
Mother Daughter Relationships

What is a good mother daughter relationship?

People say all the time that they know the definition of a "perfect" mother daughter relationship. So, I took the time today to look on Google and look up "What is a good mother daughter relationship?", and a million different links popped up.

I got everything from being nice to each other, understanding one another, being open and honest, and one even said spending time away from each other. However, none of these  gave me a concrete answer, so who are we to say what a "good" mother daughter relationship should look like?

As teenagers, we often go around to our friends houses and compare households and parents every time we feel like our own parents or parent isn't being fair, but when we do that we are causing our own problems. I was talking to my mom one day and she reminded me that motherhood didn't come with a hand book, you just do what you think is right and (at times) what society tells you is right. So, as kids when we go and tell our moms that they need to be like someone else, how do you even know that is the right way to be raised?

In my opinion, a good mother daughter relationship, is like any other relationship (boyfriend, girlfriend, friend, best friend, etc.). It's when your able to be yourself without having to fake anything, when your able to be honest and not have to worry about that person judging you...That's a good mother daughter relationship to me. However, to someone else that may be the total opposite. Most of the time we find ourselves telling our mothers "You just don't understand" or "You wouldn't know", when in reality our mothers have been through half...if not worse situations than us! Like I said before, a perfect mother daughter relationship is unknown, but it's how we feel within ourselves and our own relationship with our mothers, no matter biological or not.

What does a friendship mean to you?

What does a friendship mean to you?

This weeks blog focuses on friendship, however, instead of me giving the meaning of friendship. I have gone around and asked a few people what their meaning of friendship looks like.

Michelle (A Mother): To me friendship means someone that is loyal and dependable.

Tasheanna (A 20 year old girl): Someone who is caring, sweet, supportive in anything that you do. Someone who will tell you the truth no matter how much it hurts you, and someone who is more than just a friend, but more like a sister or brother.

Dominick (19 year old boy): Someone who is interested in the same things, share similar views, enjoy time with each other hang out often; someone who is reliable and trust worthy.

Ashleigh (18 year old girl): A real friend is someone who you can be yourself around no pretending just you. A person who you can see a sisterhood or brotherhood with, and they should hold a special place in your heart. You will do anything for them; through thick or thin you guys would be able to get through it.

Basically the common denominator of a "real friend" is someone that you are comfortable enough to be yourself with and someone who is honest and someone that will be there no matter what.
These are just the different point of views and opinions of how the "ideal friend" should act.
I would love to hear your opinion? Leave a comment!

What is Social Media?

     What is Social Media?

The dictionary definition of social media is websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. However, some people would define it as the "Life Destroyer".

Social media has had a major impact in the business world, in our communities, and most importantly our youth. The impact that Social Media has on our youth is truly significant. In the 21st century our children are growing up with mobile devices in their hands, they have everything from Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Social Media is transforming how people interact with each other on a day to day basis, because as a generation we started to live our lives online.

Now I'm not trying to say that social media is horrible, because it definitely has two sides. On the positive side, social media can act as an influential tool for business owners, especially if they are trying to get their products in the hands of the youth. However, Social Media will only be useful to the people that know how to use it accordingly, and realize that it is exactly what is said..."Social Media".
